| | Scott & I braved our first vacation together in March 2017. After a car ride that seemed forever long, even though I slept most of the way, we finally reached our destination - New Smyrna Beach, FL. After spending the first couple of days avoiding the beach because the weather was too cold and windy, we tried to find a good spot to eat. I was cranky (I was at the beach and had yet to get any sun - sorry, not sorry) and we couldn't agree on a restaurant. So instead we just roamed around town, hit a couple of souvenir shops, and headed back to our condo. Despite the fact it was SUPER windy when we got out of the car, Scott suggested we go walk on the beach. I didn't really want to because I was cold and didn't have a sweatshirt, but agreed anyway. Scott grabbed my hand and we started walking through the parking lot toward the beach. We barely hit the sand (literally, there was just enough sand there to say it was the beach, haha) and Scott says "Okay, I can't do this anymore..." and stops. I, of course, internally freak out and thought for half a second he was going to break up with me right then and there. Instead, he drops down on one knee and.....that's where I black out. I was in such shock at what was happening that I honestly didn't know what he was saying, but then I realized he was holding a beautiful, sparkly ring, and the next thing I know I was saying "YES YES YES" Daniel Bryan style. |
This is where I should probably confess that I didn't propose as everyone thinks I did on a beach... there was sand, but it wasn't officially a beach. We had just gotten back from dinner on vacation in Florida and after several minutes (that felt like weeks) of stalling around trying to find a place to do it (Keep in mind it was literally about 40 degrees and about 25+ mph winds by the ocean) I led her on a walk a little ways down the parking lot (that was covered in sand) towards the beach and dropped on one knee and proposed. I am not really sure what I even said or what she even said, it was all kind of a blur of tears and had nodding and nervous hand gesturing on my part hoping I didn't drop the ring trying to put it on her finger. Luckily she was able to get out a comprehensible word "YES" and I was able to slide the ring on her finger, we quickly ran to our room that was exponentially warmer than it was outside to share the news with our family and friends. What I remember the most about the whole night was that I didn't have to say much and neither did she, all we needed was to look at her left hand to see the symbol of our love that would be there forever! |
